Francesca Hopkins is an artist based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She is currently studying for an Associate of Fine Arts degree at Minneapolis College. Francesca is a multimedia artist, but primarily enjoys printmaking and ceramics. She comes from the southeastern river town of Winona, Minnesota. Reflecting on childhood, familial relationships and loss, Francesca explores the concept of home with a sense of grief, loneliness, and longing. She finds inspiration for her art in her own original characters and collaborative storytelling, along with her love of music and the heartbroken. In her free time, Francesca loves to play Dungeons and Dragons with friends, create characters and stories, listen to romance books, and hyperfixate on creating the perfect Spotify playlist. She often can be found hanging out at home with her pets, debating on if she has time for a nap.

About Me

I am driven by art that makes me feel something. I’m the kind of person who listens to sad songs when they’re sad. When I feel something, I love to create something to harness that. Sometimes those feelings will be brought upon by something as simple as a song or a moment in a D&D game. Other times, that feeling is from a memory or a moment in life. I long to tell the stories of those moments; moments of heartache, of sorrow, of identity. Through my work, I allow those feelings to be seen and heard. I hope that my work inspires others to sit in those feelings with me, and maybe we could all feel a little less alone.
